Couples Travel Guide: Miami Edition

Couples travel guide to Miami by Evergreen Lane Productions

I started visiting Miami, Florida almost by accident. A friend invited me to tag along for Winter Music Conference in late March a few years ago. Most of the conference events happen in South Beach, and with its Art Deco architecture, beautiful coastlines and colorful culture, it became a fast favorite. Sometimes you need a beach + a mojito, am I right? This year, my 3rd annual pilgrimage, my husband + I also explored the trendy Wynwood neighborhood. Miami might not be on your couples travel bucket list, but it might be after you check out these favorites in this couples travel guide to Miami.

Miami is full of energy, but has plenty of spots to kick back + relax, making it an excellent destination for couples (we certainly enjoy it every time we visit)!

My husband and I used Zola for our wedding registry*(affiliate link, get $50 when you create your registry!), and one of the features we loved most about it was that we could add experience-based gifts. Plus, we could use them all along the way during our RV trip, since they have experiences in lots of major cities we visited including Austin, Chicago, Key West + Miami! One of our favorites was a food and art tour of the Wynwood Arts District.

We tasted so much great food as we walked around the neighborhood, surrounded by an impressive array of murals by artists from around the world. Here are some of our recommendations for good eats, street art, and the best music in our two favorite Miami neighborhoods.

Best of Wynwood:

Zac the Baker. a neighborhood institution with delicious baked goods and a hometown hero story. Grab a coffee + watch the bakers at work before you head out to see the neighborhood murals.

Garden Food + Bar. We experienced this as a live music venue, and they have some delicious craft cocktails with that tropical vibe you’re going for in a city like this one.

1-800 Lucky. This is a food-court-style restaurant with an outdoor area great for dancing. If you and your honey can’t always agree on what you want for dinner, this is a great option!

Wynwood Walls. There are murals all over the neighborhood, but this concentration of internationally-acclaimed artists is worth perusal.

Best of South Beach:

Puerto Sagua: a Cuban food classic – everything here is excellent, but I love the ropa vieja.

Art Deco Historic District. There are so many architectural gems in this neighborhood. It’s the perfect spot for a stroll and lots of photos!

Under the Mango Tree. When you’ve had your fill of Cuban food (is that possible?), you can get a smoothie bowl here to recover.

Do Not Sit On The Furniture. My favorite music venue in the area, with high levels of quirk + character (complete with a disco ball shark)

You can see why we think Miami falls into the “romantic getaway” category, right?

We took the video above in South Beach (mostly) as a little experiment. My husband would say he doesn’t have a creative bone in his body, so I taught him to take video with his iPhone. Then, I edited everything when we got home. So if you’ve had your eye on the Juniper heirloom travel film, but you’re worried you wouldn’t know what to take video of, have no fear.
