One of the best things about Colorado is its people – they’re kind, adventurous, resourceful, and always up for something new. They’re also unconventional + laid back, which means that an iPhone wedding video can be the perfect option. When Raechel reached out to me about editing a video of her elopement, which took place on the top of Colorado’s tallest mountain – I knew I was in for a treat.
Raechel and Josh hiked to the top of Mt. Elbert, at 14,440 feet above sea level at sunrise so they could marry on its peak. My dear friend Larissa of We The Light Photography was there to capture the occasion, and she brought her husband Ben along to record the ceremony on video with a drone and an iPhone. Raechel and Josh celebrated with a group of family and friends at a later date and asked me to compile Larissa and Ben’s documentation into a film they could share with their loved ones who weren’t able to be there with them. Yes, please!
I love that Raechel and Josh weren’t afraid to eschew the “traditional” wedding film for something that worked for them – and they were still able to have this keepsake of their epic mountain elopement within their budget (and with an iPhone, no less!).
Quality videography is expensive (and rightly so – as a professional, I can attest to the skill, gear, and time required to produce wedding films). However, if that’s not what works for you, a little creativity can get you a long way. Yup, professional editing is a great option for a DIY wedding video and turning those home videos into an heirloom.
